The mass summer flowering of different daffodil species over huge areas here is nothing but sensational. Not least because of their strong fragrance. Named after Narcissus, the Greek hero, who was said to have been turned into a daffodil by Nemesis, the Godess of vengeance, this very fragrant Mediterranean species was among the first daffodil species to be cultivated by man. The narcissus oil pressed from farmed daffodils is still widely used in exclusive perfumes.
